Robert Rogers

Robert Burtch Rogers passed away peacefully on March 11, 2013. A long-time resident of Salinas, CA, Robert was a public school teacher and guidance counselor at Washington Junior High School. Robert was married to Jean Rogers, who passed away in 1995. He was born in New Orleans, LA, attended Louisiana State University, was a naval aviator serving active duty in the South Pacific during WWII. and continued naval service in the Mediterranean after the war. Following studies at the Naval Post-Graduate School in Monterey, CA, he received a PhD in sociology at the University of Southern California (1962) and a degree in Marriage and Family counseling from Stanford University (1964). Robert remarried in 1997 and enjoyed 14 wonderful years with his wife, Grace Bryan, of Salinas. Robert is survived by his wife, Grace, his four children, Nina Bailey, Jennifer Grant, Robert P. Rogers, and Merrill Hearnsberger, seven grandchildren, one great-grand child, and another great-grandchild on-the-way. In lieu of flowers, Robert's friends may contribute to one of Robert's favorite charities, SmileTrain, or to the Salinas YMCA, where Robert "Bob" was very active all his life.
