Megs Priess

Margaret Mary “Megs” Priess, 69, passed away peacefully in her home March 17, 2013. She was born to Jacob and Margaret Sitter in Bismarck, ND. Megs met and married the love of her life and husband of 48 years Bill in Bismarck. Megs moved to Napa in 1970 and retired as accounting manager at Sander, Jacobs, Cassayre Insurance in 1997. Megs lived a rich life full of family, friends and faith and shared her mischievous humor with all. She was a devoted volunteer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church as a counter, mass coordinator and extraordinary minister of the Holy Communion. A generous and constant host of countless many at her home overlooking the Napa Valley, she welcomed all visitors as family and hosted 25 infamous Super Bowl parties. When not entertaining, Megs traveled the country and world with Bill, friends and family. Megs cherished her “Mermaids” swimming group friendships and received great joy in giving her coveted crafts to friends and family. Megs occupies a special place in the hearts of so many and will be forever missed. Megs is survived by her husband Bill Priess; son Craig Priess and his wife Robin Allen; son Jeff Priess and his wife Jamie Taylor-Priess; sisters Julie Miller, Ann Kolstad and Carol Sickler; brothers Julius Sitter and Jack Sitter. Her brother Benjamin Sitter preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Claffey & Rota from 1-3pm on Sunday, March 24 with a prayer vigil at 2pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. John’s (stchurch.stjohnscatholic.org) on Tuesday, March 26 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Megs requested donations to the Saint Mary’s Catholic High School (Bismarck) scholarship fund and the St. John’s capital campaign for the youth center.
