May 16, 1940 - February 18, 2018
Joyce Jean Ranghiasci Carnazola passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, February 18th at 6:17 p.m. at the age of 77. Joyce was born on May 16th, 1940 in San Francisco, California to Joseph “Pap” Ranghiasci and Martha May Clokey. She attended Lincoln High School in San Francisco and was proud to have been a former song girl and “Queen of Lincoln High.” Joyce met the love of her life, Andy Carnazola, when she worked as a secretary at Beneficial Finance. She was smitten with the new loan officer and their love story began. Joyce and Andy were married and moved to Napa to start their family in 1961. Joyce was the heart of the neighborhood. She welcomed and fed many neighborhood children, often becoming a second mom to most of them. She was also known for walking her 4 Shepherd-mix dogs all over Napa, rain or shine! Joyce and Andy were extremely proud of their children, Christina and Paul. Joyce was an active mom, helping out at school events and enthusiastically cheering on her kids from the sidelines. Joyce loved her grandkids, Jessie, Sean, Andrew, and Joe, more than life itself, actively participated when they were young, attended their sporting and school events, and managed to convince each one that they were her favorite! Joyce was always eager to give to others. As she often said, ”The sky’s the limit!” Even later in life, when faced with physical challenges, Joyce had a strong and spunky fighting spirit. She thrived in her senior community, Brookdale of Napa, and was elected Vice President with the campaign slogan, “Joyce is the Choice!” Joyce is survived by her children, Christina Williamson, and Paul Carnazola, daughter-in-law, Katie Carnazola, and her grandchildren, Jessie and Sean Williamson, and Andrew and Joe Carnazola. Joyce will be greatly missed by many relatives, including the Ranghiasci, Merrion, Carnazola, Morris, McGie, Moss, Korber, and Cortez families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookdale Assisted Care in Napa, for an employee appreciation fund in Joyce’s honor. Joyce greatly loved her home and wanted to honor and appreciate the people that treated her as family and cared so deeply for her. There will be a rosary service at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St., Napa on Thursday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life on the same day from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Chardonnay Golf Club, 2555 Jameson Canyon Rd. in American Canyon. Joyce lived her life with a sense of humor, gusto and fiery spirit. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
