Francis Allen Shouse

Francis ‘Tuck’ Allen Shouse, 80, a long-time Napa resident, passed away peacefully at home on January 23; surrounded by his family after a progressive battle with cancer. Francis was born at St. Joseph Hospital, in San Francisco on July 30, 1935. Francis was the first born son of a family of five children to Richard and Maryann Shouse. The family moved from the ‘Inner Sunset district’ of San Francisco to the Los Carneros area in 1945. Francis graduated from Napa High School in 1953 and then attended Napa Junior College earning his associates degree in 1955. After graduation Francis began his lifelong passion and career in the Title insurance business, where he worked for over forty years in Santa Rosa for the North Western Title Co. Eventually becoming Executive Vice President for the title company. Francis enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the world and weekend drives in his classic cars. Francis’s biggest love was reading and researching historical events, biographies and world conflicts. An avid researcher, Francis enjoyed his retirement years by spending time in the Napa County Clerks Office studying old survey maps of Napa and family genealogy. Francis is survived by his six children; Michael (Christy) Shouse of Hidden Valley, CA, Caryn (Scott) Sandwith of Seattle, WA, Mary (Jim) Crawford of Redding, CA, Thomas (Cantrice) Shouse of the Island of Hawaii, Kyle (Lisa) Shouse of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ayne Shouse of Napa, CA, a beloved sister and brother-in-law Sally and Jerry Burch, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a cousin, Robert Mini. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Shouse, in 2008. A heartfelt thank you to Hospice by the Bay, UCSF Medical Center and to Dr. Paul Dugan and his wonderful medical staff. A funeral service to celebrate Francis’s life will be held Saturday, January 30th at 11am at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home 1975 Main Street, Napa.
